Birth of a Harpsichord
As seen at the Nasher, and the North Carolina Museum of Art!
This is my latest piece in its entirety- an exploration of the intersection between art, music and history. It pairs interview audio with handmade puppet and needle felted animation.

Birth of a Harpsichord (trailer)
30 sec. clip from my current project, Birth of a Harpsichord
I am currently hard at work on my first commissioned piece. It is an 8-minute puppet animation chronicling the building/painting of this unique instrument:
It is slated to screen alongside a concert series at the end of September. More information on these events can be found here.

object animation, with fabric cutouts
This piece is a contemplation on the term "parasocial relationships," a social science term that seemingly justified my attachments to television characters at the time (I no longer feel justified). A parasocial relationship is the one-way relationship between a fictional character onscreen, and the offscreen viewer. There are things that a television character can do to strengthen this bond (eg. break the fourth wall), but the viewer is typically powerless. This is my solution...
I wrote the soundtrack while at a workshop studying electronic music at Oberlin. It's a duet between an analog synthesizer and a theremin.

David Duchovny Fantasy #1
2007, 27 secs.
Black and white fabric cutouts, buttons and hand stitching.
This is a manifestation of my childhood dream in which I take a nearly fatal bullet for David Duchovny. The action happens fast, so if you look away you may miss it. The title infers that perhaps there are more fantasies- a distinct possibility, but this is the only one that has been articulated onscreen.
